HOW TO CONDUCT DIALYSIS TUBING

Dialysis tubing is one of the major medical practices that has been saving lives for a donkey of centuries. Diseases are regarded as enemies of man. Humans get sick from time to time, in most cases, the illness may become so severe that the sufferers battle for survival. Chronic illnesses last longer than some minor diseases.

If an illness lasts for a period of one year with ongoing medical treatment, such illness is regarded as chronic. When damages are done to the kidney, the kidneys may start to malfunction and may lead to a total shutdown of some other body activities.

Dialysis involves a process where the functions of the kidney are medically performed with the help of trained medical professionals. Dialysis is likely an option when the kidney records end-stage failure, where it can no longer perform its functions. Dialysis is done when the kidney can’t perform 85-90% of its functions i.e when the GFR is <15.

FUNCTIONS OF DIALYSIS

Dialysis performs a very important function by taking charge of all that the kidney(s) are supposed to do. This implies that without it, the individual may not survive or live for a longer period of time. Among others, dialysis performs the following functions;

  1. It helps in keeping somebody’s chemicals at safe levels, by regulating the amount secreted and circulated. Some of the bodily chemicals include; potassium, bicarbonate, and sodium.
  2. Dialysis helps greatly in blood pressure regulation. This according to studies, serves as the primary medical discovery in the history of medical research.
  3. Removal of waste, water, and salt. Dialysis helps in the removal of some unwanted products from the body so that they don’t start building up in the body.

TYPES OF DIALYSIS

First, there are two types of dialysis: Hemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis. Hemodialysis involves the use of minor surgery to implant an artificial kidney that will help remove unwanted waste in the body. This can be done by connecting it directly to the blood vessels, while the artificial kidney can be planted on the arm or leg. This process can be regarded as dialysis tubing.

On the other hand, peritoneal dialysis involves cleaning the blood where the professionals surgically implant a tube (catheter) in the patient’s abdomen, and the waste products in the body are drawn out using the Cather. The implanting process can be regarded as dialysis tubing.

How long does hemodialysis treatment last?

To be able to articulate how long hemodialysis treatment can last, medical professionals usually consider lots of things such as;

  • how big the patient’s body mass index is.
  • The type of artificial kidney the professionals are using.
  • Amount of waste accumulated in the patient’s body.
  • How much damage was done to the kidney before hemodialysis treatment?
  • How much fluid was gained during treatment?

DIALYSIS TUBING

Dialysis tubing is a process of selectively diffusing molecules around a semi-permeable membrane. The surgical means of inserting or implanting tubes into the body for the dialysis process is regarded as dialysis tubing.
